Pub Crawl Zurich

Every Saturday night, 30–40 people come together for a guided pub and party tour. Your Red Host takes the group through a mix of bars, pubs, and clubbing venues, so you meet new, outgoing people at every stop. With editions ranging from Karaoke to Beer Pong to Clubbing Night, the changing locations make it easy to talk to a wide variety of people.

Dance Classes

Zurich has plenty of dance schools you can join. In Switzerland, class groups usually stay together for several weeks as they progress through levels, so you see the same faces every session — a natural way to build familiarity. Arrive a little early and stick around after class, since those are the easiest moments to start a conversation. Many schools also host dance evenings where you’ll run into the same crowd again.

Great for meeting locals

Sports Clubs (Vereine)

Nearly every village and neighbourhood has its own sports club — a “Turnverein” in German, or “Association de sport” in French. Adult sections are usually split by gender (“Damenturnverein” and “Herrenturnverein”), though joint events happen throughout the year. Training varies a lot from club to club — soccer, volleyball, workouts, jogging, and more — and several times a year the group heads off together for a weekend: a hike, a ski trip, a bike tour, always something active.

Music Groups

If you play a wind instrument — trumpet, clarinet, tuba, or similar — nearly every village has a “Musikgesellschaft” that performs at local events: sports club competitions, national holidays, or visits from politicians. It’s a genuinely local way to get involved in community life.

Meet locals

Guggenmusik

For anyone who plays a wind instrument or drums and likes to party, Guggenmusik groups rehearse regularly year-round, with the busiest months in January and February. During Fasnacht (Swiss carnival), you’ll play in the streets in the early morning and at masked balls at night. Not every region celebrates Fasnacht, but wherever it happens, you’ll find a Guggenmusik group to join.

Meetup

Check out Meetup to find expat events in Zurich. You’ll find groups for almost everything — hiking, socializing, women-only meetups, and more — each running its own regular events.
